Daniel F.’’Spike’’ Driscoll, 78, of Norton formerly of Brockton died on Saturday April 8, 2006 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, MA He was the beloved husband of the late Marguerite M. (Dupuy) Driscoll, to whom he was married to for 23 years at the time of her death on October 10, 1985.
Born in Brockton, MA on December 3, 1927 he was a dear son of the late Matthew and Mary (McCarthy) Driscoll.
He was educated in St. Patrick’s School in Brockton and was a 1945 graduate of Brockton High School. After high school he served in the U.S. Navy at the end of WWII and was honorably discharged with the rank of Radarman Third Class. He later went on to graduate from Lowell Tech University.
Mr. Driscoll was employed as Civil engineer for The MA Department of Public Works in Taunton, MA He retired in 1990 after 38 years of service.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton and was a former communicant of St. Margaret’s Church in Brockton. An avid golfer, he was a proud member of The Brockton Country Club and was a Class Champion for several years. He also enjoyed various other sports. He had lived in Norton for the past 3 years and was formerly of Brockton for most of his life.
He is survived by his devoted children Patricia A. Emord and her husband Richard of Middleboro, Matthew J. Driscoll of New Jersey, Daniel J. Driscoll and his wife Carol of Mansfield and Terry A. Driscoll of Norton. His sister and brothers Eileen Latham of Raynham, Dennis Driscoll of East Bridgewater, Michael Driscoll of New York and the late James Driscoll, the late John Driscoll and the late Peggy Willis. Also survived by his cherished grandchildren Erin Driscoll, Kevin Driscoll and Sarah King as well as his many nieces and nephews.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday April 13th at 7:45 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, South Worcester St., Norton. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Brockton.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday April 12th from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
