Obituary

Mrs. Doreen R. (Roberts) Zarba died peacefully on August 17, 2021. She was born in Liverpool,
England and lived in England for the first 20 years of her life. It was there that she met the love
of her life Tony (Leo J. Zarba) and the two were married for 39 years and deeply loved each
other throughout their lives. They enjoyed traveling together and made many trips to England,
Europe, California and Mexico. They also enjoyed long road trips to Canada and the Carolinas.
They worked side by side in their businesses and built their dream home together in Lynnfield,
MA. Doreen survived Tony by 25 years and lived in Lynnfield, MA for a total of 30 years.
Doreen is survived by her children: Tony Zarba, D’Ann Hansen, and Gina Lasher and four
grandchildren: Cori Lasher, Jessica Hansen, Danielle Hansen and Eric Lasher. Doreen would
frequently say that her biggest joy in life was being a mother to her three children and
grandmother to four.
Doreen was born to the late Mary Elizabeth (Poole) Roberts and Robert Roberts. Doreen was
one of 11 children and is survived by six of her siblings and 20 nieces and nephews. Doreen
was the only family member to leave England and move to the United States.
Doreen was immersed in the Catholic Community at Our Lady of Assumption Church in
Lynnfield and later at St. Ann’s church in Wayland. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief
in God supported her throughout her long life. Doreen was a kind, gracious and loving person
and her warm smile will be dearly missed by all of her loved ones.
Her family is grateful for the supportive community at the Carriage House in Wayland, Good
Shepard Hospice, and Roxanna Gampos’s loving team of caregivers who helped so much in
the final years of Doreen’s life. Relatives and friends are respectively invited to attend a
memorial service at St. Paul’s Church in Wellesley, MA on September 9 at 11:00 AM. The burial
will be private. The family gratefully declines flowers. If you are so inclined, donations to the
Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, 34 Washington St., Suite 310, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481 are always
appreciated.
