Richard H. Wilder, 62 of Derry, NH, died Saturday, April 8, 2006 in the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. Mr. Wilder was born in Portsmouth, NH on August 4, 1943, a son of the late Hubert H. and Eleanor P. (Isaacson) Wilder. He built his home in Derry where he had resided since 1980, formerly having lived in Salem, NH. As a child Mr. Wilder had been a highly touted Little League pitcher and had a number of news articles written about him. He was a graduate of Tewksbury High School, class of 1957. Mr. Wilder was a longtime employee of the Seiler Corporation and later Servend, Inc. of Waltham, MA. He enjoyed playing softball for many years with the Salem, NH Men’s League and he also enjoyed his vintage corvette. He was an avid bowler and gardener and was a devoted father, grandfather and a friend to all.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Joyce A. McCarthy of Derry, two daughters, Tammy A. Tavares and her husband Hans of Clarksville, TN, Kristen L. Peredna and her husband Robert of Derry, a son, Eric R. Wilder and his wife Tess of W. Wareham, MA, four grandsons and four granddaughters, two brothers, Robert H. Wilder and his wife Donna of Braintree, MA, Gary N. Wilder and his wife Nancy of Brewster, MA, his step-father, Dana A. Callanan of Naples, ME and also by five nieces.
Visiting hours were held from 5-8 PM Tuesday, April 11th, 2006 at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 12th in the funeral home. The burial followed in the Tewksbury Cemetery, Tewksbury, MA.
