Obituary

Helen M. (Keefe) Kane, a longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at her home in Charlestown. She was 99 years of age.

Helen was born in Tewksbury on May 27, 1922, a daughter of the late Edward Keefe and Louise (Sullivan) Keefe. She grew up in the Hough's Neck section of Quincy where she was educated throughout the Quincy Public School system. Helen worked as a Ticket Clerk at Filene's Department Store for over 25 years and then as a Cafeteria Cook for the City of Boston at the Edwards R. Middle School in Charlestown. She was a very active participant at the Golden Age Center in Charlestown where she enjoyed playing bingo. She was an avid Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox fan and also enjoyed going to the movies and traveling to Foxwoods and Twin Rivers with her fellow seniors from Charlestown. Family was front and center in Helen's life and she took great pride caring for her husband, 6 children and their families and always cherished the moments when everyone gathered together.

Helen is the beloved wife of the late Martin F. Kane. She is the devoted mother of Geraldine Fasy, Dennis Kane and his wife Joan, Catherine Judge and her husband Bruce, Jimmy Kane and the late Thomas Pynn and his surviving wife Helen and the late Martin F. Kane Jr. and his surviving wife Debbie. Mother-in-law of Gerry (Daley) Kane. She is the loving Nana to Dennis, Allison, Tommy, Shawn, Kathleen, Kevin, Pam, Christopher, Brian, James, Patrick, Michelle, Martin, Aileen, Christine the late Kelly and her 24 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Ruth Miller and the late Sr. Zita O.P., Doris McCrae, Marion Christmas, Lillian Kearney, Walter Keefe and Edward Keefe. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Helen's visiting hours on Tuesday morning, September 7, 2021 from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. Her burial is private.
