Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Andrée L. (Morin) Charest, 76, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Monday, August 30, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life from her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Saint Elzéar, Province of Quebec, Canada on October 11, 1944, a beloved daughter of the late Onil and Hélène (Bouchard) Morin. She was raised and educated in Saint Elzéar and moved to Springfield in 1970. She received her Associate's Degree in Accounting from Springfield Technical Community College. She was last employed as the manager of S&S Paint and Wallpaper, then, Sipersteins on Page Boulevard in Springfield. During her leisure time, she enjoyed knitting and sewing, and most especially enjoyed preparing amazing family dinners. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was a longtime communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church, now, Blessed Sacrament Church on Waverly Street, in Springfield. She was predeceased by her longtime partner and best friend, Robert Deland who was Called Home on January 29, 2018. She leaves her three loving children, Annie M. Cordero and her husband, Jose "Pepe" Cordero, of Indian Orchard, Onil J. Charest and his wife, Elsie, of Ludlow, and Marie-Claude L. Torres and her partner, Richard Godbout, of Springfield; her nine cherished grandchildren, Daniel Dones and his wife, Darci, Angelica Dones, Melanie Bourque and her husband, Stephen, Adrian Dones, Meagan Charest, Christopher Charest, Guilmond Torres, Jordan Torres, and Samaira Dumpson; her six cherished great grandchildren, Hallie, Lucy, and Brady Dones, and Emma, Sophia, and Audrey Bourque; her dear brother, Paul Morin of Maniwaki, P.Q., Canada; her four dear sisters, Nicole Morin of Rimouski, P.Q., Canada, Jeanne Morin of Notre Dame du Portage, P.Q., Canada, and Fabienne Morin and Michelle Morin, both of Valley Field, Montreal, Canada; her dear step brother, Fernand Paradis and his wife, Lucille, of Sherbrooke, P.Q., Canada; her dear step sister, Collette Boisclair and her husband, Rosaire, of Saint Elzéar, P.Q., Canada; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends in the United States and in Canada. In addition to her parents and partner, she was predeceased by her grandson, Giovanni Dones; her son in law, Jaime Torres, Jr.; her brothers, Jean-Marc, Julien, and Marius Morin; her sisters, Anne-Marie and Hélène Morin; her step brother, Gilles Paradis; her step sister, Monique Tardif; and her former husband, Guilmond “TiBi” Charest. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, September 5, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. which will be followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 4:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Her burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Children's Miracle Network at Baystate Medical Center, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199.
