Obituary

Roland A. Desrosiers, age 89, passed away on August 26, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born on December 19, 1931 in Chicopee, a son of the late Raoul and Agnes (Froncur) Desrosiers. Roland graduated from Chicopee High School in 1951 and then served in the US Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He later worked as a pipefitter for the former Monsanto Company for many years before he retired. He was a communicant of St Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield, a member of the Elks Lodge 1849 in Chicopee as well as a member of the American Legion Post 337. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Beatrice (Cruz) Desrosiers of FL; two sons, Mark B. Desrosiers DMD, and his wife Susan of Columbia, CT and Alan P. Desrosiers and his wife Carol of Hope Valley, RI; 2 grandchildren, Sarah Cannon and her husband Michael and Matthew Desrosiers and his wife Morgan, one great grandchild Anna Desrosiers, and two surviving nieces, Donna Barree and Jan Flynn. He is predeceased by his brother Norman Desrosiers and his Step-brother Frank Downey. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 4:00 -7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee, masks are required. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday Sept. 1, 2021 at 9:00 AM in St Thomas the Apostle Church, 63 Pine St., West Springfield followed by prayers and military honors in the Chapel of the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
