Sara Christine Price Luttrell, age 92, formerly of Water Valley, MS, passed away Friday, April 7, 2006. Mrs. Luttrell was born on Dec. 16, 1913, in Coffeeville, MS and passed from this life on Friday, April 7, 2006, in Henderson, TN. For the past eight years she lived in Henderson with her son and was a member of the Diamond Grove Church of Christ in Beech Bluff.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday April 9, 2006 at Seven Oaks and funeral services will be Monday, April 10, 2006 at 2:30 pm at the funeral home with Johnny Burkhart, Minister of New Albany Church of Christ, New Albany,MS and her grandson Don Allen Price officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS.
Survivors include her son, Al and wife Josephine of Henderson and two grandchildren: Don Allen Price and wife Bridget of Dallas, Texas; and Bethany Rose Walker and husband Bryan of Memphis, TN. She leaves five great-grandchildren: Miles Keaton Mayfield, Avery Rose Walker, Ellis Nelson Walker, Logan Scott Price, and Brinley Bowen Price and three great-grandchildren. Her stepdaughters are Margaret Perkins of Olive Branch, MS and Judy Cofer and husband Bobby of Springfield, TN. Three sisters survive: Stella Ruth Tribble of Luxoohoma, MS; Janie Florence Armstrong of Enid, MS; and Jo Anne Mooney of Water Valley. MS.
Mrs. Luttrell was the oldest of eight children of Eldon Phillip and Ethel Langham Helm in a family that knew happiness in the simple things of life, and anxiety for brothers who left their work in the clay hills of Mississippi to fight for America's freedoms across the sea. She public worked most of her life in Water Valley, MS. Her family stands up to praise her for her generosity and quilting for each the beautiful, hand sewn" Joseph's Coat of Many Colors". Her epitaph is that "she hath done what she could.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin T. Price and in later years by husband Lloyd Luttrell.
