Obituary

POULSBO, WA------ Bruce 'Grumps' Allen Nelson, 75, of Poulsbo, WA, passed away unexpectedly, on Monday, August 23, 2021.

Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Bruce was born on January 20, 1946, in Minnesota, the son of Harry and Maxene (Hargreaves) Nelson.

Bruce attended Patrick Henry High School, in Minneapolis, MN. He was a proud United States Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War, earning his Purple Heart. His hobbies included fishing, riding motorcycles, bird watching, reading military books, and helping his granddaughter with the family genealogy. He had a fond love for his Swedish heritage as he was first generation American.

Bruce is survived by his son Casey Nelson and his wife Shelley of Port Townsend, WA; his granddaughters, Haley Davenport and her husband Michael of Hooksett, NH, Jordie Nelson and her partner Maxwell of Laconia, NH, Shelby Nelson and her fiancé Paul Johnson of Poulsbo, WA, Emma Kline and her husband Matt of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jadyn Scott Nelson of Port Townsend, WA; his grandson Dustin 'DJ' Nelson and his partner Kaitlyn of Poulsbo, WA; and his sister Debbie Wright of MN. Other family members include Heather Firestone and her husband Zakk of Grants Pass, OR, Tina Carlson and her husband Keith of Stoddard, NH, Deanna Malmborg of Poulsbo, WA, and Amanda Nelson of Bremerton, WA. In addition to his parents, Bruce is predeceased by his son, Dusty Nelson, and his first wife Dixie (Johnston) Nelson.

We all loved our Grumps. His loss has left a hole in our family, he will be missed by us all.

Services will be private.
