Obituary

Leo P. Cronin of Rock Hill, SC died Friday, August 6, 2021 after a short illness. Born in Boston, MA on October 12, 1938, he was the oldest of seven sons born to Francis and Elizabeth Cronin. He is survived by Patricia, his beloved wife of 56 years and his two children, daughter Clare Cronin of Fairfax, VA and son Sean Cronin and his wife Marian Dery of Fort Mill, SC.

He is also survived by brothers Neil, husband of the late Patricia Salmon of Dedham MA, Gerard, husband of Ann of Westwood, MA, Paul husband of Diane, of Powder Spring, GA, and Philip, husband of Donna of Wetumpka AL, and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Kenneth, (husband of Joan), and Stephen.

Mr. Cronin graduated from Boston Public Schools and received his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the U.S. and Germany with the 2nd Armored Division. While a resident of West Bridgewater, MA he served on the town's School Committee. He lived in Middleborough before moving to South Carolina, where he resided for the last 12 years. He was active in the New England Wargamers’ Association, and was a founding member of the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society. He also enjoyed travel and dancing.

A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Susanna’s Church, 262 Needham St., Dedham on Monday, Sept. 13 at 9:00am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:30am.
