Charles L. Weiss, Jr., 76, of Derry, NH died Friday April 7, 2006 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. Mr. Weiss was born in St. Louis, MO on November 17, 1929, a son of the late, Charles and Francis (Geyer) Weiss. He had resided in Derry for the past 40 years, formerly of California. Mr. Weiss served with the US Navy and later retired from the US Air Force where he served as an aircraft mechanic. He served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam eras. He was a member of the American Legion, Lester Chase Post #9 in Derry. He was also a member of the Raymond Sportsman Club, the NRA and a life member of the North American Hunting Club. Mr. Weiss was employed for the Hadco Corp. and later retired from Merrimack Valley Wood Products, both of Derry. Many years ago, he worked part-time mowing lawns at HoodKroft Country Club in Derry. Mr. Weiss enjoyed hunting, crossword puzzles, puzzles and watching cop shows on TV. He enjoyed spending his mornings at Dunkin Donuts in Derry with the morning crew. He loved all his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren very much. He will be in their hearts forever.
He is survived by two sons, Richard A. Weiss of Radcliff, KY, Jeffrey P. Weiss of Irvington, KY, one daughter, Wanda Y. Weiss of Kannapolis, NC, three stepsons, Robert Crawford of Rumney, NH, Ronald Crawford and William Crawford, Sr. both of Derry, 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, one brother, Robert D. Weiss of Hillsboro, MO, one sister, Blanche Bennett of Texas, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Weiss was predeceased by his wife, Ida M. (Smart) Weiss in 2004. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Sheila Weiss, his stepson, Richard C. Crawford, stepdaughter, Linda M. Gero and his brother, Donald E. Weiss.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, graveside services were held at 10:00am on Wednesday April 12, 2006 in the Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is handling arrangements.
