ANDOVER - Louise I. (Marshall) Stevenson, age 76, a resident of Andover for five decades,
died Friday, April 7, at the Wingate of Andover, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of James
R. Stevenson, with whom she had celebrated a 49 th wedding anniversary this pasy November 3rd.
She was born in Lowell, July 4, 1929, a daughter of the late George A. and Mary (Mitchell)
Marshall. She was raised in Tewksbury, and graduated from Tewksbury High School. She
moved to Andover 49 years ago.
In her earlier years, she worked as a telephone operator for the former New England Telephone
Company.
For four decades, she had been an active member of the Andover Baptist Church, where she was a
Sunday School teacher, and choir member. She was a gifted soloist, and traveled throughout
New England with her church choir. She also taught music at the Vacation Bible School, where
she was affectionately called "Mrs. Music" by her students. She had also served as the co-president
of the Merrimack Valley Baptist Women’s Association.
She was lovingly described by her family as an avid Red Sox baseball fan.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David W. Stevenson and his
wife Alison of Manchester; a daughter and son-in-law, Amy L. Stanton and her husband Michael
of Amesbury, MA; and many friends throughout the Merrimack Valley.
Her funeral service was held Tuesday, April 11, in the funeral home. Interment was in
Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Andover Baptist Church, 7 Central
