LAWRENCE - Nora L. "Nonie" (Ashley) Burke, 73, a former resident of Lowell and Tewksbury, died
Friday morning, April 7, at the Lawrence home of her sister, after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Lowell on June 12, 1932, a daughter of the late Leslie M. and Nora (Lemire)
Ashley. She was raised in Lowell, attended Lowell public schools, and graduated from Lowell
High School.
She had lived in Tewksbury the greater part of her life, most recently at the Carnation Drive
senior housing community, but moved to Lawrence last year because of her declining health.
She was employed as a technician at a dental laboratory.
She was also known to her many friends as a member of the Come Alive After Five dance club in
Lawrence.
She is survived by a son, Edward Bland of Lowell, two daughters and sons-in-law, Doreene
Wood and her husband Robert of Quincy, CA, Leslie Campbell and her husband David of
Manchester, NH; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty Bilodeau and her husband Albert of
Lawrence, Shirley Perault of Lowell; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Henry Ashley and his wife
Hatsuko of Newport News, VA, Albert Ashley of Sandown, NH; three grandchildren, Brian and
Jason Wood, Dustin Bland; three great grandchildren, Joseph, Kelsey, and Jackson; and many
friends.
Her memorial funeral service will be Wednsesday April 12 at 10:00 am at the Tewksbury Congregational Church located on the corner of Main Street and East Street in Tewksbury center.
