Obituary

John Manchester died peacefully in Hull, Massachusetts on August 10th,at home in the company of his longtime companion Hilary Hubbell, after a short illness.

John was born in Boston on April 23,1963. Two years later, he became part of the family of Rachel and Roger Manchester, who adopted him soon thereafter. When John was five, the Manchester family moved to Hull, where John would reside for the rest of his life. John was able to re-connect with his birth siblings as an adult, as he recently remarked, he felt truly fortunate to have two families who loved him.

John attended Hull public schools and graduated from the Norfolk County Agricultural High School. He joined the Navy Seabees shortly thereafter and served in the construction battalion reserves for approximately 9 years. His main occupational interest, though, was always in following in the footsteps of his father Roger and being a carpenter. John and his dad could often be seen in Hull putting on a roof, completing an addition, and even rebuilding the famous carousel.

John loved to read, surf, road trips, and camping. He was mischievous with a lifelong penchant for telling jokes and stories. He was quite a few years younger than his three sisters, though was often seen as a contemporary of both them and his many nieces and nephews.

John leaves behind his two sons John Jr of Hull and Michael of Weymouth. In addition to them and Ms. Hubbell he leaves his sisters Patricia Manchester, Elaine Pendleton, Debra Mulrooney, Regina O'Riley, and brothers James and Richard McGowan. He was predeceased by his McGowan siblings Herbie and Virginia. He will also be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, friends and customers, and Ms. Hubbells' children Hannah, Kelsey, and Seth and her grandchildren.

Friends and family will be notified of a memorial service at a later date.
