Patricia Ann “Patsy” (Whalen) Pratt of Wellesley, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend died peacefully on August 4th 2021. Patsy was born on April 13, 1930 in Boston, MA. She was predeceased by her husband Waldo E. Pratt, III as well as her brothers Jack, Charlie and sister Mary. She is survived by her sister Rita Whalen McCaffrey of VT; her children Kathleen Weld (Kit), W. Elliott Pratt, IV (Tricia), Nancy Hurley, John Whalen Pratt (Juliet), and sister-in-law Burkey Pratt as well as numerous nieces and nephews. “Mimi” will be particularly missed by her 13 WONDERFUL grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters.
Patsy was the daughter of Loretto B. and John P. Whalen and was raised in Lexington, MA. She graduated from Lexington HS with the class of 1947 and went on to Immaculata Junior College in Washington DC, and then graduated from Marymount College in 1951. She went on to become a kindergarten teacher before marrying Wally and raising their family.
Patsy was always active in her community, especially with the Wellesley Service league, the Wellesley Garden Club, as a volunteer at the Newton Wellesley Hospital, and as an active parishioner at St. John’s Parish.
She was a longtime member of the Wellesley Country Club and the Jonathan’s Landing golf club in Jupiter, FL, where she pursued her love of golf and sunshine.
Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) Wellesley on Friday, August 20 from 4:00-8:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. John’s Church, Wellesley Hills on Saturday August 21 at 10:00am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment immediately follows at Woodlawn Cemetery.
