Obituary

Bernardina (Stipa) Capparella, 81, a longtime resident of Walpole, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. She was the beloved wife of Arcangelo J. Capparella, who died in 2012.

Born in Monterotondo, Italy on July 10, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Serafino and Emidia (Michetti) Stipa.

Mrs. Capparella grew up in Monterotondo, Italy and moved to the United States in 1963.

Before her retirement, she worked as a nanny and housekeeper in the Walpole area for many years.

Mrs. Capparella was a member of the Sons of Italy Walpole-Foxboro Regional Lodge, the Italian American Club of Walpole, the Italian American Ladies Club of Walpole and was also a member of the former St. Theresa Society at Blessed Sacrament Church.

She enjoyed playing bocce and bowling.

She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Joanna Capparella and her husband John Walach of East Walpole and Stefanie Nineve and her husband William of Plainville, her son Mark Capparella and his wife Angela of Bellingham and seven grandchildren, Carolynn Simoes and her husband Nairam, Paul Capparella, Billy, Alex and Daniel Nineve and Raymond and Matthew Walach.

She is also survived by her sister Luigia “Gina” Stipa of Italy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass on Wednesday, August 4 at St. Martha’s Church, 227 South St. in Plainville at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 12 – 3 p.m. the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Mrs. Capparella’s memory to the Italian American Club of Walpole, 109 Stone St., Walpole, MA 02081 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
