James R. Bent, 89

James R. Bent, age 89, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the Brush Hill Care Center in Milton. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret L. (DePrizio) Bent who died on November 25, 2010.

Born in Needham, MA on August 5, 1931, he was a loving son of the late William and Margaret (Bell) Bent.

Jim grew up in Needham and was a graduate of Needham High School. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country for four years as a member of the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged on September 19, 1954 with the rank of Airman Second Class.

A resident of Mansfield for the past sixty years, Mr. Bent worked for many years in the Carpenter’s Union, prior to retiring. He loved spending time with family and taking trips to Nova Scotia to visit his extended family. His hobbies included yardwork, gardening and the simple pleasure of relaxing at home.

He was the dear brother of Margaret Fleissner of Charlotte, North Carolina and the late Russell Bent and Walter Bent. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, August 3rd from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 3rd at 11:00 in the funeral home followed by burial with military honors at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
