James L. “Big Jim” Dunaway SR age 82 of Salem, NH, died Wednesday at the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, MA.

He was born in Virginia, where he grew up and attended schools. Mr. Dunaway was a resident of Salem, NH for the past 38 years, formerly of Somerville, MA.

Mr. Dunaway was a Ride Operator at Canobie Lake Park in Salem, NH for the past 14 years. He also was did Theatrical Rigging for Charles Stewart Company. He was a US Navy Veteran serving in World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 8546 in Salem, NH. Mr. Dunaway loved being with people and making them smile with a joke. He was well known for his Fried Chicken, and enjoyed watching TV.

He was predeceased by 2 sons Robert C. & Gerald D. Dunaway

He is survived by his wife of 56 Years: Pearl (Smith) Dunaway of Salem, NH

1 Son: James L. & his wife Lee Ann M. Dunaway of Salem, NH

1 Brother: William Dunaway of Virginia

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 AM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
