Obituary

William “Bill” Stovall, 92, was born on February 8, 1929 in Kansas City, MO. He passed away on July 23, 2021 with his loving family surrounding him, as he was welcomed into the presence of the Lord.

His family moved to Santa Barbara in 1944. He served his country in the Navy from 1946-47. In 1950, he married Marie Poole, whom he had met through mutual friends. They celebrated their 59th anniversary before she passed in 2009.

Bill was a baseball player, practically from birth. He and his brothers played ball over decades, on various teams in Ventura County, including the Oxnard Merchants, who finished 3rd in the Nationals for fast-pitch softball in 1963. Passing on the game to his son, grandsons, and great-grandsons, he never missed an opportunity to cheer them on at their games.

Bill worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Ventura County, and received many awards and commendations, retiring as a supervisor after 36 years of service.

He loved his family above all, and treasured the many times spent together. His humor and impromptu songs resonate with all of his family and friends. Bill was an avid golfer, frequenting Saticoy Country Club and Hueneme Golf Courses. Bill loved sports, and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Bill will be reunited with his parents, Paul and Edith Stovall, his wife Marie Stovall, his siblings Roy, Bob, Chuck & Dorothy, his daughter Vicky Chambers, and son Terry Stovall. He will be greatly missed by his daughter Karen Huerta (Steve), grandchildren Jason Stovall (Cori), Leah Taylor (Greg), Ryan Huerta, Sarah Stovall, Kilee Hawes (Jason), Eric Chambers (Sarah), and great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Beckett, Gavin, Zoey, Madelynne, Jaxon and Grant.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 12pm, with a viewing from 11-12pm, on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at BOYKO & REARDON TELEGRAPH ROAD MORTUARY & CREMATION, 15 Teloma Drive, Ventura, 805-765-4137. Interment will follow.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Regina Robles, for her incredibly loving and respectful care of our Dad and Grandpa. We would also like to thank Los Robles Hospice for their care.
