Alec E. “Red” Green, 84, of Green Harbor, MA, passed away on March 18, 2006. Born in Chorleywood, England, on March 27, 1921, he was the son of the late Ernest and Christine (Luther) Green and had lived in Avon for many years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Okinawa and earning the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Good Conduct Medal.
He worked for many years at Hamilton-Standard Division of United Technologies, retiring in 1986.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Perry and Margaret Green of Winsted, and a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Mark Comeau of Canton. He also leaves three grandsons, Matthew Comeau of Rochester, NY; Michael Comeau and Eric Comeau of Canton. He also leaves a great grandson, Benjamin Comeau, of Rochester, NY. He was predeceased by his wife Geraldine. He was also predeceased by a son, Timothy W. Green, of Baltimore, MD. He leaves two brothers, Philip Green of Harwich, MA, and Edward Green of Hernando, FL. He was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Green of Nantucket. Alec always had a love for racing, both boats and cars. He also enjoyed many aspects of photography. He was a member of SCORE and New England Auto Racers. He was a member of Beechwood Congregational Church in Cohasset, and a member of the Marshfield Senior Center
Memorial services will be held Saturday April 8th at 10:00 AM in the Avon Congregational Church 6 West Main Street (US Rte 44) Avon, CT 06001 and Sunday April 9 in the Beechwood Congregational Church 51 Church Street Cohasset, MA at 3:00 PM The Rev. Douglas Fish will officiate
