Obituary

CHICOPEE – It is with great sadness that the family of Maurice R. Piotte, 88, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, announce his passing on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Chicopee on July 26, 1932, the beloved son of the late Adrien E. and Mandoza A. (Coutu) Piotte. He was raised in Chicopee and lived in the Aldenville section of Chicopee for most of his life. He graduated from Saint Joan of Arc Elementary School in Aldenville and later graduated from Chicopee High School in 1950. Maurice furthered his education and graduated from the Hampden College of Pharmacy in Holyoke in 1954. He served his country in the United States Navy and attained the rank of Hospital Corpsman Petty Officer Third Class. He was employed as a Pharmacist for many years and owned and operated the Piotte Pharmacy in Aldenville, retiring in 1997. He also worked as a Pharmacist at the Soldier’s Home in Holyoke. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and was a member of the Elder Council 69 Knights of Columbus, the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849 and was a member and Past President of the Western Mass Pharmacy Association. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his three loving children, Monique R. Piotte and her partner, Michael Florio, of Westfield, Andre M. Piotte and his wife, Jennifer, of Enfield, CT and Marc A. Piotte and his wife, Tammy, of Monson; his eight cherished grandchildren, Colby Cousineau and his fiancée, Emily Harlow, Noah Cousineau and his partner, Angela Kelley, Kaylee, Morgan, Gabrielle and Ryder Piotte and Mariah and Dylan Stebbins; his dear sister, Alice P. Forget of Chicopee; his former wife, Regina M. (Wittke) Piotte of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear brother in law, Roger D. Forget who was Called Home on July 27, 2017. His family will receive friends on Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
His Funeral will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 beginning at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial with United States Navy Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040 or to Saint Joan of Arc School, 587 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
