Obituary

Vito A. Sczerbinski, 74, of Plainfield Pike, Johnston, passed away peacefully
Saturday July 17th in the Greenville Center, Greenville.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Vitold and Mary J. (Previte) Sczerbinski.
He resided in Cranston before moving to Johnston and then became a resident at the Greenville Center.

Vito graduated from RI Vocational Tech as a carpenter in 1966. He served
with the U.S. Army Reserves as an army medic. He was very proud of these
two things he had done in his life. Vito worked as a floorman at Benny’s and
was a Manufacturer with The Window Shoppee in Warwick until he retired
after 37 years.

He was an avid sports fan, following the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He loved to spend time playing golf and using his carpentry skills to make old things new. He also loved coaching little league baseball and basketball in the 1980’s.

Vito leaves his children, John Sczerbinski and his wife Tara of Johnston and
Vara (Sczerbinski) Savitsky of Johnston, he was a grandfather of four. Vito
was the step-father to the late Bryan Deschrochers. He is survived by his loving siblings, Helen DiMente and her husband Alfred of N. Hollywood, CA; Joseph Sczerbinski and his wife Jane of Cranston; Maryann Waters and her husband Tom of Scituate, MA; Peter Sczerbinski of Cranston; Vicki Mowry and her husband Ken of Cranston; Paul Sczerbinski and his wife Donna of Cranston. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Vito will also be missed by his cherished friends John Savitsky Jr. and David Hall. The Sczerbinski family wishes to give a special expression of gratitude to David Hall for his extraordinary help and care during Vito's last few years.

His funeral will be held Monday July 26th at 11am in the Anderson-Winfield
Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Visitation will be
held Monday morning 9:30am to 11am. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery,
Cranston. In lieu of flowers donations in Vito’s memory may be made to Buttonhole Golf Course, Inner-city youth program, 1 Buttonhole Drive, Providence, RI 02909
