Donald Baker, 88, of New Bedford died Monday, July 19, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital after a period of declining health. He was the husband of the late Eulalie "Lee" "Lolly" (Costa) Baker.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Robert and Helen (Baker) Halstead, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Donald was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in New Bedford.
He was formerly employed as a supervisor at Hostess Baking Company for over 40 years until his retirement.
Donald enjoyed playing golf and watching sports.
He is survived by his brother, Thomas Halstead and his wife Zelda; and six nieces and nephews, Michael Halstead, Mary Beth Halstead, Maureen Halstead, Meaghan Halstead, Shawn Perry, and Christine Conway and their families.
He was predeceased by his sister, Carol Perry and his nephew, Matthew Perry.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 23 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Church, New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:30-10:30 AM, prior to the Mass, at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
