Obituary

Robert S. Crompton, 75 of Worcester, passed away Monday, July 12th in UMASS Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary C. (Guerin) Crompton; two sons, David C. Crompton and his wife Sandra, Michael R. Crompton, and his daughter Brittany M. Plante and her husband David all of Worcester; three brothers, his twin, Richard Crompton and his wife, Randy of Rutland, Charles Crompton and his wife, Jill of Derry, NH and Douglas Crompton and his wife, Laura of Webster; his sister, Winifred Gendron and her husband, Alfred of Worcester; two grandchildren, Matthew and Kayleigh Crompton and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Crompton and his sister Marilyn.

Robert was born in Worcester, the son of Thomas A. and Marjorie (Johnson) Crompton and had served in the United States Navy, Seabees completing two tours in Vietnam. He retired in 2010 from Worcester State College where he had worked as a carpenter for 35 years. Bob was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish and a former member of the Tatnuck Post American Legion and the Carpenter’s Union, Local 107. He was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and jigsaw puzzles. His greatest joy was time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

His funeral is Wednesday, July 21st from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with his funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. His calling hours are Tuesday, July 20th from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 200, Rockville MD 20852 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
