Annette (Gleeson) Gear
July 7, 1943 - July 10, 2021

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Annette. A loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She left us sleeping peacefully at her home in Braintree, Massachusetts, just after her 78th birthday. A daughter of Erin, having been raised in Limerick, Ireland by her parents Christopher and Margaret Gleeson, together as a family, the Gleeson’s immigrated to Boston and called Mission Hill their new home.

Her proudest achievement: being a big sister to her six younger brothers and her sister; mother to three sons; and grandmother to three, two of which were finally girls.

Her children are Michael Gear, of Braintree, MA, and his better half Robin Muccini, Kenneth Gear, Jr. and his wife Jean Gear of Fairfax Station, VA and Brian Gear and his attack cat Salty of Braintree, MA.

She cherished her grandchildren, being graced with her first Shannon, then Patrick “PJ” followed by Lauren. Married to Ken for over 57 years, she is assured sainthood. Together they started and successfully ran a flooring company in the Brookline & West Roxbury areas for over 30 years.

Is it not possible to describe such a loss. How profoundly, yet unknowingly, she positively affected us all. Her number one priority was family, and how wonderful it is because of her. She was a pillar of strength time tested, a diminutive giant, she was a role model for all of us. Her legacy will live on for generations to come. Until we meet again, she will be with us in every happy thought, and her strength will see us through every tear.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours for Annette and her husband Ken at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street West Roxbury on Friday, July 16, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 17th at The Basilica and Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Mission Church) at 1545 Tremont Street, Mission Hill, MA 02120. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury, MA.

In lieu of flowers, please be kind to someone. Call a friend or relative you haven’t reached out to recently. Forgive someone. Practice patience. All acts of kindness are appreciated. These were the types of differences she made in all our lives. In addition, a scholarship fund has been created in her name at Suffolk University in Boston. The Annette Gleeson-Gear Endowed Scholarship. Suffolk University 73 Tremont Street, Boston, MA 02108 or at https://www.suffolk.edu/alumni/support-suffolk/give-now

Rest peacefully Mom.
