Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Doris (Charland) Lariviere Latour, 97, of the Baystate Place Apartments in Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, July 11, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at the Sixteen Acres Healthcare Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born Springfield on January 30, 1924, a beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Eugenie (Daigle) Charland. She was raised and educated in Springfield and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was employed as an Inspector and Auditor at the Digital Equipment Corporation in Springfield and retired in 1989. Previously, she had worked at the Springfield Armory. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved first husband, Roger E. Lariviere who was Called Home on July 20, 1962; her beloved second husband, Alfred J. Latour who was Called Home on January 2, 1987; her loving daughter, Sharon R. Hall who was Called Home on April 17, 2009; her dear brothers and sisters, and her dear sister-in-law, Dorothy “Dot” Charland who was Called Home on July 29, 2020. She leaves her two loving children, Rosalie J. Decoteau and her husband, John, and Gary E. Lariviere, all of Springfield; her seven cherished grandchildren, Roger Decoteau and his wife, LeighAnne, and Mary Alvarez and her husband, Daniel, all of Springfield, Joye Cavanaugh and her husband, William, of Agawam, Joseph Decoteau of Springfield, Sarah O’Shea and her husband, Sean, of Chicopee, and Eric Hall and his wife, Stephanie, and Michelle Hall, all of Redding, CA; her 15 cherished great grandchildren; her cherished great great grandson; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. concluding with a Funeral Service at 3 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Her Burial will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109 in Saint Leo Section. Her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Springfield Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 9045, Springfield, MA 01102-9045.
