Obituary

Mary Devlin, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at her home in Charlestown following a 4 year courageous battle with cancer. She was 66 years of age.

Mary was born in Everett on June 4, 1955, a daughter of the late John C. Devlin and Audrea M. (Ferguson) Devlin. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1973. Mary worked as a Coordinator for Partners Health Care for over 10 years. She was a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association and in her spare time, Mary enjoyed her many trips to Las Vegas with Leo and her family and visiting Encore. Family was a very important factor in Mary's life and she cherished the love and support from her husband, siblings and extended family during her illness. Mary was a very independent person and all that knew her appreciated her honesty because you knew exactly where you stood with Mary Devlin.

Mary is the loving wife to retired Boston Firefighter Leo R. McGonagle. She is the loving step-Mom to Paul McGonagle and Brian McGonagle. She is the loving Grandmother to Kaila McGonagle and her great-grandchildren Ava and Jaxon. She is the devoted sister of Jack Devlin and his wife Dee, Joan Kane and her husband Dennis, Thomas Devlin, Kathy Charbonnier and her husband Jim, James Devlin and Janice Devlin. She is the loving aunt to Allison Grealy who dedicated herself to Mary and her many other nieces and nephews. Mary was also so proud of her dear friendship with the many Butterflies and Frogs.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary's visiting hours on Friday morning, July 16, 2021 from 8:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 12 Noon. Her burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.

Mary hated flowers, in lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in Mary's name to The Audrea Devlin Scholarship Fund, c/o Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association, P.O. Box 290276, Charlestown, Mass. 02129.
