Obituary

Raschelle Bourassa, 90, of North Providence, formerly of Cumberland, died
Saturday May 22, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Robert Roger Bourassa. They were married on May 2, 1953 and shared over 50 years together until his passing in 2003.
Born in New York City, she was raised in Cumberland by the late Leo Ovide Lague and Yvonne (Descoteau) Lague.
In her earlier years Raschelle worked for Miller Electric and U.S. Rubber in Woonsocket. She was a longtime employee of the Cumberland Public Schools working in the maintenance department.
Raschelle enjoyed crocheting, listening to music and going to lunch with her friends. Some of her most memorable times were spent by the ocean or in a pool. Whether in Mashpee or anywhere on Cape Cod or way down south in the Florida sunshine, in order to escape the New England winters, Raschelle indulged her passion for swimming and just being by the seashore during these trips.
Raschelle will be remembered as a devoted mother. When the situation called for it she could stare down anyone with her eyes and facial expressions that needed absolutely no words…. You knew where you stood…. And you best get back on Raschelle’s good side!
Aside from that Raschelle was a happy and outgoing lady who loved being in the middle of any and all family activities. No matter what life sent her way, through good times and through bad times, Raschelle was the glue that held her family tightly together. Raschelle’s trademark red lipstick and love for cardinals and pansies would certainly qualify her as a “Steel Magnolia” if ever there was one in the Ocean State.
Raschelle is survived by her daughter Roxanne E. Lollar (her late husband Terry) of North Providence with whom she lived, her two sons Alfred Bourassa and his wife Jane of Clearwater, FL and Michael Bourassa of Northboro, MA and her daughter Kay A. Bourassa of Ashland, MA. She as the mother of the late Joanne Beagley who passed away in 1991. She was the sister of Linda Lague Sculley (her late husband Jim) of FL and the late Roger Lague. She was the grandmother of Kenny Bourassa and his wife Amber, Danielle Lagasse and her husband Jeffrey and John C. Beagley. She is also survived by 7 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Raschelle’s funeral service will be on Friday July 23, 2021 at 11:30 am in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Blackstone. Visiting hours are Friday morning from 10:00 am, prior to the service.
