Obituary

Andrew Omer Potvin a lifelong resident of Coventry, Rhode Island passed away on June 30, 2021 at the Hope Hospice Center just days after his 92nd birthday. Living a hard-working and fulfilling life, he was the beloved husband of the late Doris (Kender) Potvin for almost 70 years. Andrew was born in West Warwick, RI to the late Omer and Claire (Rondeau) Potvin. Andrew lived his life devoted to his relationship with God and is now safe in the arms of his loving Savior Jesus Christ for all eternity. He was a faithful member and deacon of Cornerstone Church in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Andrew worked at Linwood Lace and Maguire Lace Companies in Coventry, Rhode Island, as a Lace Weaver for much of his working career. When times were lean as a lace weaver he spent his time as a quahogger. He also owned his own saw-sharpening business. He later worked as a Collator Operator and Foreman at Allied Business Forms in Providence, Rhode Island.

Over the course of his life he had many different enjoyments and hobbies ranging from family ski trips, camping on Johnson’s Pond, gardening, water skiing, carpentry to name just a few. One of his greatest achievements was building the family home from cutting the timbers to finally moving in with his wife and six children.

Andrew also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A few moments, a few hours, or an overnighter would bring much joy to moments spent time with them.

Andrew is survived by his children; Leonard Potvin (Theresa) of Warwick, Dennis Potvin of West Hollywood, California, Kenneth Potvin (Joanne) of Cranston, Karen Varney of Narragansett, Mary Gribbin (Teddy) of Coventry, and Timothy Potvin also of Coventry.
