William D. Rose, Sr., 83

Dateline: Taunton, MA

William D. Rose, Sr., age 83, a lifelong resident of Taunton, passed away unexpectedly at Morton Hospital on Monday, July 5, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Alberta C. (Wilson) Rose, to whom he was wed for sixty-five years.

Born in Taunton, MA on November 19, 1937, he was a loving son of the late Frank and Thelma (Benton) Rose.

Bill grew up and was educated in Taunton. During the time of the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Rose had worked as a machinist for nearly forty years at the former Texas Instruments in Attleboro. He was a communicant of Saint Nicholas of Myra Church in North Dighton and a member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks.

Bill and his wife enjoyed traveling and wintered for twenty years in Hudson, Florida where he was also a member of the Eagles Club in Hudson. When not spending time with his adoring family, Bill’s passions in life were bowling and playing golf. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: William D. Rose, Jr. and his longtime companion Janet Kennedy of Rehoboth and Susan R. Rhodes and her husband Marcus of Taunton. He was the dear brother of Richard Rose of South Carolina, Gordon Rose of Raynham, Elaine Prairie of Sandwich and Wayne Rose of Attleboro. He is also survived by his cherished 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, as well as his loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, July 9th from 8:30-10:30 A.M. at the Taunton Memorial Funeral Home, 8 Crapo Street (Off Route 140, Tremont Street) Taunton.

His funeral Mass will follow visiting hours on Friday morning at 11 A.M. in Saint Nicholas of Myra Church, 499 Spring Street. North Dighton. Burial with military honors will follow at the Cedar Knoll Cemetery in East Taunton.
