Obituary

Glavin, of Brockton, April 1, 2006, John F. Glavin, 84 years. Father of Margaret Glavin of Middleboro, Patricia Gorey and her husband Michael of Raynham, John F. Glavin and his wife Mary of Bridgewater, Thomas Glavin and his wife Tina of Somerset, Jeffrey Glavin and his wife Kristen of Marion and Kristen Glavin of Bridgewater. Grandfather of Daniel Arich, David Gorey, Brendan and Tyler Glavin, Jeffrey and Jennifer Couto and Kristiana, Jeffrey and James Glavin.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 8am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8pm. Donations in John’s name may be made to American Diabetes Assoc. Research Foundation, Attn: Margaret Walker, 1701 N. Beauregard St. Alexandria, VA 22311.

Obituary Information

Mr. Glavin died Saturday morning at St. Joseph Manor after a lengthy illness. Born and raised in Brockton, he was the only child of the late Edith May (Adams) Glavin of Brockton and John F. Glavin who immigrated to Brockton from Ireland. He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII and then attended Northeastern University. He spent his career working as a civil engineer for the state and as the Mutual Manager at the Raynham Dog Track. He also worked for years helping manage the Brockton Fair. He loved playing golf at Thorny Lea Golf Club, playing cards with friends and in his early 20’s Mr. Glavin was a shortstop in AAA baseball.

He is survived by three daughters Margaret Glavin of Middleboro, Patricia Gorey of Raynham and Kristen Glavin of Bridgewater, three sons John F. Glavin of Bridgewater, Thomas Glavin of Somerset, Jeffrey Glavin of Marion and nine grandchildren Daniel Arich, David Gorey, Brendan and Tyler Glavin, Jeffrey and Jennifer Couto and Kristiana, Jeffrey and James Glavin.
