Obituary


Christine M. Devine, 87, of Avon, MA passed away peacefully June 24, 2021.

Christine was born in Boston. Cherished wife of Paul W. Devine; loving mother of Paul A. Devine and his wife Cheryl of Abington, Donna Devine of Avon, Maryann Bonfilio and her husband Paul of Plymouth, Diane Madden and her husband James of Gilbert, AZ. Beloved sister of Ann M. DeLuca of Malden, predeceased by her brothers Paul DeLuca, James DeLuca, her sister Mary Logue, and her great grandson, Abel Devine. She also leaves eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as her dear friend Kay Peterson of Avon.

Christine lived in Avon for 58 years. She grew up in Dorchester and worked as a cashier for Stop and Shop, where she met the love of her life. They were married for 63 years. Upon retirement she enjoyed many winters in Las Vegas and Arizona. In her earlier years she enjoyed volunteering, whether it was being a den mother for Boy Scouts, or lady sodality at St. Michael’s. She loved being active in her community. She also enjoyed walking. She was well known for many years for her morning walks, hand in hand with her husband at IKEA. More recently she enjoyed knitting scarves for her loved ones, and talking on the phone, reaching out to her many friends and family. She loved everyone with all her heart.

A funeral mass will be held July 2, 2021 at 10:00 am, St. Michael’s church in Avon, MA. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home in Braintree.
