Michael C. Saro, 57 years old, passed away Friday, June 25, 2021, after a heroic battle with esophageal cancer. Michael was born in Somerville, MA, son of the late Costa and Mary (Burke) Saro of 39 Beacon Street Woburn.
Michael was raised and educated in the Woburn School System. In his youth, Michael was a talented ice hockey player with a bright future in the game until a knee injury ended his ability to skate. He always had a love for hockey and was an avid Bruins fan, who never missed a game. He worked as a union carpenter most of his life and at the Boston Convention Center for the past 10 years. Michael was a hard and dedicated worker, who took pride in out-working his coworkers. He was beloved by his nieces and nephews with whom he was generous with his money and time. Michael enjoyed remodeling the homes that he owned.
Michael Saro lived an authentic, sincere, self-reliant life, with many devoted life-long friends. His passing leaves a void for many that cannot be filled.
Michael is survived by his siblings; Genevieve Lopez and her husband Alex of Royalston, Dr. Steven Saro and his wife Christine of Westford, Linda Saro of Lowell, and Lisa Keane and her husband Bill of Tewksbury. He was the loving uncle of Brian and Elyse O'Rourke, Kelsie, Harrison and Benjamin Saro, Ryan, Shane and Kylie Perry, Jamie and Cali O'Riordan.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Thursday, July 1st, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St. Woburn, at 11:30 a.m. Interment services will be private. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Michael's memory to the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, c/o Massachusetts General Hospital, Development Office, 125 Nashua St., Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114.
