Obituary

Worcester – Margaret “Peggy” (Tolman) Kenney, 67, of Worcester passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 in Saint Vincent Hospital after a long illness.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, David A. Kenney; her two daughters, Lauren M. Kenney and Katharine R. Kenney both of Worcester; two brothers, Michael Tolman of Millbury, MA and Matthew Tolman of North Brookfield, MA; nephews, nieces and cousins.

Mrs. Kenney was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Verne W. and Marie J. (Millette) Tolman and is also predeceased by a close friend, Nancy Gaudette. Peggy graduated from Saint Peter’s High School in 1972 and then continued her education at Anna Maria College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business in 1976.

Peggy was co-owner of Foodworks Chinese Cuisine for many years, retiring in 2011. Peggy later went to work as a driver for Van Pool after her retirement, this job brought much joy and happiness to her life on a daily basis. She truly loved to be around her students and co-workers at Van Pool.

Peggy was a staple for many years, behind the counter of Foodworks on Stafford St. where she developed many friendships with her regular customers. She loved to take trips to the beach, especially Old Orchard and Wells, but Peggy was truly the happiest when she was spending time with her family.

A funeral will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in Saint Peter’s Church 929 Main St. Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 in the funeral home before the funeral mass.
