Obituary

Karen A. (Myers) Scales, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a 3 month courageous battle with cancer. She was 63 years of age.

Karen was born in Boston on February 27, 1958, a daughter of the late Philip J. Myers and Helen (O'Neil) Myers. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and attended Pope John High School in Everett. Karen was working as a Para Professional which she was so proud of and enjoyed every day at The Eliot School in the North End. She was also a proud townie who co-founded and was Vice President of Special Townies . Karen was always looking out for the other person in her life and she was especially proud and dedicated to her family, always cherishing the quality moments she shared with her husband, each one of her children and was so very proud of her grandchildren. Karen is a dedicated 32 year friend of Bill W.

Karen is the beloved wife of 47 years to John E. Scales. She is the devoted Ma to Helen Wallace and her husband Danny, Kristen Lacey and her husband Patrick, Kerin Scales and her companion Trevor, George Scales and his companion Brittany, John Scales and Brennis Scales. She is the loving Ma to Lanagan, Maire, Kyla, Robert, Kieran, Cameron and Patrick. She is the beloved sister of Philip J. Myers Jr. and his companion Kathy, Paul F. Myers and the late Maryellen McCann and Patrick J. Myers. She is the dear sister-in-law to Ann Myers. She is the special friend of Debbie Hughes and Pam Sullivan. She is also survived by her many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Karen's visiting hours on Thursday morning, June 24, 2021 from 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. Her burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
