WOODSTOCK, CT – Gladys K. (Kwiecinski) Grochowski, 90, died Wednesday, June 16, 2021 in Southbridge Rehab & Healthcare Center after an illness. Her husband, Ernest Grochowski, died in 1994.
She leaves 4 nieces, Elizabeth “Betty” Blodgett and her husband Michael of Webster, MA, Cecilia Brouillet of Webster, MA, Stephanie George and her husband George of Webster, MA and Rosemarie Minior Walker of Northbridge, MA; 8 nephews, Theodore “Ted” Baron and his wife Carol of Dudley, MA, Xavier “Tucker” Baron of Holton, ME, David Kwiecinski and his wife Karen of Dudley, MA, John Kwiecinski of Dudley, MA, William Kwiecinski of Dudley, MA, Thaddeus “Ted” Minior and his wife Mary of Atkinson, NH, William Minior and his wife Shirley of Douglas, MA, and John Papierski and his wife Joan of Titusville, Florida; great-nieces and great-nephews; and her longtime companion and friend, Albert R. Peloquin of Southbridge, MA. She was preceded in death by a nephew, Thomas Papierski, and by 2 nieces, Sue Anne Kaczynski and Anna Gaumond.
She was born at home on April 10, 1931 and raised in Dudley, a daughter of William and Clara (Bobala) Kwiecinski, and attended Bartlett High School. She lived in Woodstock most of her life.
Gladys worked for many years in the sewing department at Anglo Fabrics Company in Webster, retiring as the supervisor in 1998.
She was a member of Saint Andrew Bobola Church in Dudley and belonged to the Hamilton Road & Gun Club in Sturbridge. She loved gardening and caring for her property, reading, dining out and occasional trips to Maine.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, June 22, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, MA with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St., Dudley, MA. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster, MA. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, June 21, in the funeral home.
