Mark Young, 61, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, June 18, 2021, at the Ocilla United Methodist Church in Ocilla, Georgia, with the Rev. Jay Roberson and the Rev. Michael Green officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
Mr. Young was born June 26, 1959, in Irwin County, Georgia, to Shirley Green Mixon and the late Wesley Rowan Young. He attended Irwin County High School. He lived in the community all of his life. Mr. Young worked in the manufacturing field for Coachmen and Covered Wagon, in the electrical department. Mr. Young was an avid Irwin County Indian football fan and loved being involved with the team, whether managing the team or pulling chains or just being on the sidelines. He was a true Indian and will be greatly missed. He was a member of Ocilla United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley Mixon of Ocilla; his children: Wesley Young of Tallahassee, Florida, Stacy Knight & Gabe of Coolidge and Marcus Young of Ambrose; grandchildren: Brooke, Greenlee, Dawson, Preston, Aubrey and Ava; a brother, Fred Evans of Ocilla and an aunt, Norma Handley of Ocilla.
