Obituary

Camille Catherine (Sabbio) Piazza of Mashpee, MA passed away on the morning of June 12, 2021. Camille, daughter of the late Angelo and Connie (Infantino) Sabbio was born in Boston, MA. Camille grew up in the North End of Boston, a tight knit Italian community, it was here where she learned to value family and friends. She met her best friend Gloria, who was also her maid of honor, at age 3. She and her high school friends kept in close contact all through their adult lives. They took many trips together, it didn’t matter where they went, as long as they laughed.

Camille met her husband Ettore, while dancing at Mosley’s on the Charles. They were smooth. Eventually they married. They raised their family in Roslindale and Westwood. Family was central to her life. In the early years, she brought her 2 young daughters, by train, twice a week, to the North End to visit with family and friends. Ettore and Camille hosted many celebrations in their large backyard, a little heaven on earth, for their family, friends and neighbors. She also was a girl scout leader in St. Andrew’s Parish.

Later they moved to Westwood, MA where they lived for 30 years. During this time Camille sang in the choir at St. Denis Church and helped care for their grandchildren. She and Ettore also joined the Norwood Square Dancers where they met many more friends. Eventually Camille and Ettore moved to Southport in Mashpee. Camille lost her love too soon, lovingly caring for him the last years of his life. Camille sang in the choir at Christ the King Church and also with the Southport Chorus. She volunteered at Falmouth Hospital, was also a bereavement counsellor at Church. Southport offered her new friends, art classes, exercise, quilting, swimming and bocce.

Most of all, Camille is known for her big heart and ability to make people feel seen, loved and appreciated. She lived a life full of grace, love and dignity.

Camille is survived by her children, Diane and her husband Mark DeGeorge, her daughter Denise, and sons Anthony and Joseph, her grandchildren; Paul and his wife Meredith Moore, Catherine, Joseph and Angela DeGeorge, Jamie, Toni, Greyson and Dominic Piazza and great granddaughter, Lucia Edwards, also survived by siblings, her brother Geno Sabbio, sister Marie and husband George Chagnon, brother Francis and wife Theresa Sabbio, and sister in law, Margie Sabbio, and many nieces and nephews.
