Obituary

Steven Vance Clarke, age 61, peacefully passed away on June 10, 2021 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Born in Boston, MA on October 31, 1959, he was the beloved son of Mary (Valerio) Clarke and the late James Clarke.

Steve was a 1977 graduate of Hanover High School. He fostered a strong work ethic at an early age and thus began working at age 14 for his uncle, who had founded the restaurant chain, Papa Gino’s. Steve was an invaluable employee for the company for many years.

In his twenties, he moved to California where he became a self-taught pioneer of technology and computer science before it became mainstream in the general public. During his time in California and later when he moved back to Massachusetts, he gained a mastery of the culinary arts working as a chef at various restaurants. He then found his calling as a successful freelance IT support technician. He was employed as an IT consultant and technician by Direct Finance Corporation for many years and later for his brother’s company, Powerhouse Funding Corporation as well.

Steve fostered an appreciation of nature within his two beloved children, Sara (Clarke) Fitzpatrick and Jesse Clarke. He spent many weekends enjoying time with them and others outdoors, especially during the summer months near the water. Some of his favorite activities were kayaking the many Plymouth ponds and ocean, playing chess, and cooking for his family and friends (usually complete with entertainment and a theme). He also enjoyed building computers from scratch, and was even an avid hang glider in his earlier years. Steve will be sorely missed by the many hearts he touched.

He leaves behind his beloved mother, Mary (Valerio) Clarke, his cherished children: daughter, Sara Fitzpatrick, and son, Jesse Clarke, his loving siblings: brothers James, Robert, Tony, and sister Diane, his cherished grandsons Liam and Declan, and his dearest friend, Marcia Borghesani, as well as many others.

Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service which will take place on Thursday June 17 at 11:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) in Whitman. Interment will be in the Northville Cemetery in East Bridgewater.

A celebration of his life will be held on July 11, with details to follow for family and friends.
