Elwin W. Nason, 79

Dateline: Norton, MA

Elwin W. Nason, age 79, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of the late Janet M. (Mutch) Nason, to whom he was wed for forty-two years at the time of her death on March 17, 2014.

Born in Norton, MA on December 9, 1941, he was a loving son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Black) Nason.

Elwin grew up and was educated in Norton. He was a graduate of Norton High School and during the time of the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy for four years.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Nason was a talented Diesel Mechanic and for many years had worked at Cummins Northeast in Dedham.

The most special part of Elwin’s life were his family and friends. He was a longtime member of the Massachusetts Farmers Bureau and enjoyed gardening and tending to his Christmas Tree Farm. He was an avid NASCAR and all-around auto racing fan, and also enjoyed spending time in Booth Bay Harbor, Maine, reading and he’ll always be remembered for his ability to build or fix just about anything.

He is survived by his devoted son Keith W. Nason and his wife Kristin of Norton and was the cherished grandfather of Hailey Nason. He was the dear brother of Charles R. “Dick” Nason and his wife Terry of Norton, Nancy J. May and her late husband Doug of Norton and Karen A. Robbins and her husband Stu of Norton. He is also survived by his loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, June 16th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.

A graveside service, accompanied along with military honors, will be held on Thursday, June 17th at 11:00 A.M. at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Elwin with a contribution in his memory made to one’s favorite charity.
