Obituary

Francis H. “Buddy” Kelley, passed away peacefully at home on June 11th after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Judith (Bianchi) Kelley. Loving father of Beth Carr and her husband Billy of Medford, Judy Kelley and her partner Teisha Babineau of Salem and Linda Kelley and her husband Bobby of Billerica. Cherished grandfather of Hayley and Kelley Carr and Liam, Colin and Ryan Kelley. Dear brother of Cecelia Driscoll of Stoneham, Bernadette Lecesse of Yarmouthport, Patricia Downey of Medford, Jane Kelley of Arlington and Maureen Bennett of Arlington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Buddy was born and raised in Medford. He lived on Spring Street in his youth along with his parents and five sisters. He graduated from Malden Catholic High School in 1958. He was a very gifted athlete and is a member of the Malden Catholic Hall of Fame. Buddy received his Bachelor’s Degree from Boston State Teacher’s College and his Master’s Degree from Suffolk University. Early in his career, he was a teacher at Arlington Catholic High School. He is more widely known as a teacher, coach and athletic director from his long tenure at Medford High School. Buddy is truly a legend, especially when it came to mentoring his students and helping them continue on to further their education. He was inducted into the Medford Mustang Hall of Fame for his achievements. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Wednesday June 16th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday June 15th from 4-7 PM.
