Obituary

WAYLAND: Charles Donovan, 88, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at The Lighthouse at Lincoln, RI following a brief period of declining health.
He was born in Newton on November 4, 1932, the son of the late Cornelius Donovan and Margaret Rita (Welch) Donovan.
Charles was the beloved husband of the late Ella M. (Mountainland) Donovan who died on February 6, 2019.
He was the devoted father of Susan L. St. Pierre and her husband Robert St. Pierre of Warwick, R.I.; Mark C. Donovan and his wife Nancy Rauscher of Worcester and Christopher W. Donovan of South Riding, VA. Cherished grandfather of Andrew Donovan, Benjamin Donovan, Joseph Donovan all of South Riding, VA and William Rauscher of Worcester. Also survived by his daughter-in-law Jennifer Donovan of Stone Ridge, VA. Brother of Eleanor Palma of Dedham, Mary Sweeney of Franklin, Katherine Feldmann and her husband Gordon Feldmann of Mesquite, NV and the late Patricia Burns, Dorothy Flemming, Robert Donovan and Francis Donovan.
Charles spent his formative years in Dedham and has resided in Wayland for over 52 years before moving to Lincoln, R.I. in February of 2020 to be closer to family.
He received his BS in Engineering from Tufts University and was a member of the Navy ROTC Program. He completed his Masters Degree in Engineering at Northeastern University. Charles had a long and distinguished career as an Electrical Engineer with Mitre Corporation.
He served his country proudly during the Korean Conflict with the United States Navy.
Charles was devoted to his family and enjoyed time spent with them and was extremely proud of his grandsons and all their accomplishments.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2021 from 2:00 to 5:30 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd (off Rte. 30), Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 9:00 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish at ST. ZEPHERIN CHURCH, 99 Main Street (Rte. 27), Wayland.
Interment to follow in the Donovan family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, Wayland.
