Margaret Ellen (Birtwistle) Sylvia, 95, of New Bedford, died Wednesday, June 9th, 2021 after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Francis J. Sylvia.
Born and raised in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Anna (Larvek) Birtwistle.
Margaret loved crossword puzzles and mystery novels. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a recipient of the Marian Medal.
Survivors include her children, Patricia Andrews and her husband David of Mattapoisett, Marc Sylvia of Marion, and David Sylvia of Westport; her grandchildren, Meghan and David Andrews, Betsy and Rebecca Sylvia, and Kathryn and Michael Sylvia; and her great-grandsons Noah and Elijah Andrews, and Bereket Depew.
She is predeceased by her siblings, Leonard and Frank Birtwistle, and Alice Snyder.
Her Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, June 21st at 11AM in St. Mary's Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford.
