Obituary

Antonio Ramos, 80 of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.

He was born on Graciosa, Azores, Portugal on November 1, 1940 and was a son of the late Joao Ramos and Cultilde Lima. He was raised in Graciosa where he attended the area schools.

He was the husband of Maria Conceicao (Pais) Ramos with whom he shared the last 55 years of marriage. After marriage, they moved to Terciera to start their family. While in Terciera, he as a bus driver. In 1975 he came to the United States, settling in Lowell’s Back Central Street neighborhood where he was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.

He was employed as a maintenance worker at Carroll Shoe, and Magelite, before working for the Raddison Hotel for many years until his retirement.

Antonio was a dedicated Benfica fan and enjoyed spending time watching soccer games and traveling to watch games in his younger days. He enjoyed taking walks across the city and visiting with his friends. He loved gardening and would help his friends with gardening all around the city.

He is survived by his children, Adelaide Cardoso and her husband, Manuel of Lowell, George Ramos of Nashua, and Jose Ramos of Lowell; his grandchildren, Kassandra Ramos of Lowell, Stephanie Cardoso of Lowell, and Elizabeth Ramos of Nashua; and his great grandchildren, Savannah Andino of Lowell and Alexander Vega of Lowell. He is also survived by his siblings, Jorge Lima of Lowell, Carolina Ramos of New Jersey, Maria Antonia and her husband, Alverreno of Graciosa, Azores, and Joao Ramos and his wife, Aldora of Cambridge; and he was brother in law of Luzia Lima of Lowell, and Maria Ramos of Lowell; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, the late Gabriel Lima, the late Lina Avila, the late Manuel Gil Lima, and the late Jose G. Ramos. He was also brother in law of the late Avelina Ramos, the late Pedro Avila, and the late Maria Gil.
