Maria Celeste (dos Santos) da Silva, 82 of Lowell, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Lowell General Hospital after a long illness. She was the widow of the late Floriberto A. da Silva who passed away in 2004 after 41 years of marriage.
She was born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal on April 28, 1939 and was a daughter of the late Manuel dos Santos and the late Ludovina (dos Santos) dos Santos. She was raised in Graciosa, where she attended the area schools.
In 1968, she relocated to the United States, settling in Lowell, where she was a communicant of St. Anthony Church and member of the Holy Ghost Society. She was employed as a maintenance worker at Lowell General Hospital for over 20 years before her retirement in the late 1990’s.
She loved playing cards, especially sueca with her daughter, Maria, crocheting with her sister in law, Etelvina and enjoyed traveling, especially back home to Portugal and to Brazil.
Maria was predeceased by her daughter, the late Maria U. (da Silva) dos Santos, who passed away in April 2021. She is survived by her son in law, Izaltino dos Santos of Lowell; many nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and grand nephews.
