Gerald Keith Dodd, Jr. 91, of Anderson died June 7, 2021 at Northview Health and Living after an extended illness.
Gerald was born February 22, 1930, in Anderson, the son of Gerald Keith and Ruth (Staton) Dodd, Sr. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1949 and was known for his athletic ability, especially in football. He received a letter to tryout for the Chicago Bears. He worked as a millwright at Delco Remy 42 years and owned Dodd's House of Flowers for 30 years. He was a member of Elks Lodge. He loved making people laugh, was hardworking and enjoyed traveling. He built his own home.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Doris (Knotts) Dodd of Anderson, whom he married in 1949 in Anderson; three children, Diana (Dennis) Horn of Naples, Florida; Gary Dodd of Anderson and David (Elizabeth) Dodd of Pendleton; six grandchildren, Derek (Meg) Horn of Indianapolis, Dena (Allix) Dennis of Milledgedeville, Georgia; Adam Dodd of Indianapolis, Lauren (Chantz Hodson) Dodd of Anderson; Daniel Dodd of Anderson and Kenzie Dodd; seven great grandchildren, Evan, Abigail, Addison, Avery, Cambreigh, Everleigh and Archer; sister, Phyllis (John) Lollar of Anderson; sister-in-law, Phyllis Dodd of Anderson; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Barbara Baker and Larry Dodd.
Memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Robert Bell of Bethany Christian Church officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 am until the service Saturday at noon.
Memorial contributions may be given to Bethany Christian Church or Heartland Hospice.
