Bridgewater- Inez M. (Pita) Souto, 88, of Bridgewater, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. She was the wife of the late Joseph Souto.
Born Sept. 24, 1917, in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Joa and Antonia (Rodrigues) Pita.
Mrs. Souto had been a resident of Bridgewater for the past 59 years.
She was an under trimmer shoe worker at Lucy Shoe Factory Co. for 32 years.
A communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Mrs. Souto was a member of its Catholic Women’s Guild.
She was also a member of the Portuguese Women’s Club and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, her family and traveling with the Golden Agers.
She is survived by her children, Maria Bois and Joseph Souto, both of Bridgewater, and Linda Hadlock of Yuma, AZ.; her grandchildren, Robert Bois, Maria Hurley, David Bois, Veronica Bois, Christopher Bois, Richard Bois, Eric VonMagnus, Stephen Souto, Andrea Cottreau, Aaron Souto and Michael Morris; her great-grandchildren, Kyle Hurley and Lyndsey Bois; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Maria Pita and Beatrice Goes.
Her funeral will be held from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Monday at 8:15 am, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 9 am. Burial will be in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Sunday 4-7 pm.
