Obituary

Joseph E. Fagan, of Cohasset, formerly of Medford passed away peacefully at the Massachusetts General Hospital on Tuesday June, 1. He was 92. Born and raised in Boston’s South End, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph S. and Margaret L. (Buckley) Fagan. He served with the Air Force during World War II and as part of the post war period in Japan. A Somerville resident before settling in Medford where he and his late wife Josephine raised their family, Joseph spent the past few years in Cohasset. Early in life Joseph worked with the Brinks Sign Company and helped build the famous Citgo sign in Kenmore Square. He later enjoyed a 30 year career as a sheet metal fabricator with the defense contractor, Raytheon. After his retirement he worked part-time with Stop and Shop in Medford, where he was known and admired by many customers. Joseph was devoted to his family, and enjoyed taking his children on many trips. An avid fan of Boston sports, he enjoyed the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins. He also enjoyed playing the horses at Suffolk Downs and rarely did a night go by when he didn’t enjoy a bowl of ice cream. He will be remembered as a good husband, father, grandfather and friend.

The beloved husband of the late Josephine (Sperrazza) Fagan, who passed away in 2014, he was a devoted father to Vincent Fagan and his wife Cate of Medford, Melody Johnson and her husband Edward of New London, NH, and Mary Burnieika and her husband Timothy of Cohasset. Joseph was also a loving grandfather to Catherine, Jay and Julia.

Joseph’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, June 7th at 8:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 9:30 AM. and will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Sunday, 3 – 7 PM.
