Westport – Albert J. “Fat” Fontaine, Sr., 88, of McKinley Street, Westport, died Thursday, March 30, 2006 at home. He was the husband of the late Rita C. (Thibault) Fontaine.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Blanche Berube, he had resided in Westport for most of his life. Prior to his retirement, he was a security guard for Quaker Fabric Company in Fall River. Mr. Fontaine was a member of the Fall River Rod & Gun Club and the American Federation of Police Law Enforcement Alliance of America. He was an avid hunter and sportsman and loved dancing.
Survivors include 2 sons: Robert L. Fontaine of New Bedford and Albert J. Fontaine, Jr. of Westport; 5 daughters: Blanche Aguiar of Florida, Elaine Rioux of Westport, Lorraine Monroe of Berkley, Anne Dias of Westport and Beatrice Vasconcellos of Westport; 2 sisters: Jeanne Matthews of Fall River and Rita O’Brien of Westport; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Roland Michaud, Leo Michaud and Norman Michaud.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will Monday, April 3, 2006 from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Sunday 5 – 8 P.M.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
