The family moved into Prosser when he was in the 8th grade and he graduated from Prosser High School with the Class of 1979.
Shawn developed his love for cooking from his dad and working after school at the old A & W Drive In. He finished his career at Coyote Ridge Prison, working for CI-Laundry Unit. It was while there he was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. He went through chemotherapy and radiation and eventually had surgery in Seattle at the University of Washington. Shawn was cancer free, but he endured and fought three long years of ongoing medical complications from which he never fully recovered.
Shawn was an excellent singer and would join his mom at weddings and funerals as well as other social events. He sang in the church choir for the Methodist Church in Prosser and it was there that he developed a relationship with his classmate, Nancy Rincker. Shawn married Nancy, the love of his life on April 28, 1984.
Shawn and Nancy enjoyed traveling in their 5th wheel. Shawn also loved his dogs, Nikki, Sadie, and Courtney who have since passed away and current dogs, Bailie and Chloe. Shawn had a wicked sense of humor, especially when he and his father- in law, Clarence Rincker got together. He was an exceptional host and BBQ’R during many Labor Day cookouts at their home. Shawn will be missed.
He was a member of the Kennewick Eagles and Sunnyside Elks.
