Obituary

Nicholas Derchak died on May 31, 2021 in Ojai CA. following a long, valiant battle related to cancer issues. Nicholas was born on Feb. 14, 1940 in Scranton, PA. He was
the youngest of 13 children born to Nicholas Derchak Sr. & Eva (Bolishak) Derchak, Ukrainian immigrants. He graduated West Scranton H.S. in 1957. He served in the US
Army from 1958-61. He received a BSEE degree with honors at Milwaukee School of Engineering and attended both the Univ. of MN and Villanova Univ for graduate
studies. His 38 year notable career included V.P. Of Engineering Development at both Unisys and later Compaq. He was granted several patents related the early desk top
computers and was noted for his expertise in computer design. His interests included WWII aviation history, model plane building, home improvement projects, extensive
travel and his family. Nicholas was the quintessence of intelligence, humility, caring and thoughtfulness.

Nicholas is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Maureen (Moore) Derchak, his son Alex Derchak, wife Megha Khare Derchak, and grandson Taylor Nicholas Derchak all of
Ventura, CA. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Parlo of Scranton, PA and many dear nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and other siblings.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to G.I.S.T. Cancer Research Support c/o The Life Raft Group, 155 US Hwy 46, Suite 202, Wayne, NJ 07470. The family wishes
to extend their appreciation to Livingston Hospice and Ojai Continuing Care Center. There will be no funeral services, the family wishes to honor his memory in a private
celebration of his life.
